Just Us privacy policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026

Just Us is a private app for two people in a relationship. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it plainly. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@spaceble.co.uk.

Who we are

Just Us is made by Gary Nguyen, trading as Spaceble, in the United Kingdom. We are the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

The short version

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, your name and your Google profile picture. Your name is used as your display name until you change it. You can also upload your own profile picture and choose a personal colour.

What you share with your partner. Feelings you send, thoughts and replies you write, lists and list items (including places you add, with their maps link), special dates such as birthdays and anniversaries, memories, and photos you add to Our photos. Your partner can see all of this. Photos are resized on your device before upload, which also removes location information stored in the photo.

Your calendar, if you connect it. Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If you do, we store a token that lets us read (never change) your calendars, the names of your calendars, and the events in the calendars you choose: their titles, times, and whether they show you as busy. Your partner sees these events so you can both see when you are free. We read events from up to twelve months ago onwards.

Notifications, if you turn them on. We store a token for each device you allow notifications on, so we can tell you when your partner sends a feeling, posts a thought or replies.

Usage counts. Each day we record, for each person, numbers such as how many feelings were sent and seen, thoughts posted, list items added and completed, how many times the app was opened, and whether a calendar is connected. These are counts only, never content.

Technical information. Our hosting providers log requests to the app, which includes your IP address, device and browser type, and the time. These logs are used for security and fixing problems.

On your device. The app keeps a copy of recent screens and photos on your phone so it works offline. This is cleared when you sign out.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details. Anything you choose to write to your partner may reveal it, and we treat everything you write as private between the two of you.

Google user data

Just Us's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We use Google Calendar data only to show you and your partner your events and shared free time inside Just Us. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell it, do not use it to train AI models, and no person at Just Us reads it, except with your permission to help with a problem you report, or where the law requires it.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of providers to run Just Us. They act on our instructions.

ProviderWhat for
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and file storage. Your data is stored in the EU (Ireland)
VercelDelivers the web app to your browser
GoogleSign-in, Google Calendar, and notifications on Android (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
Your browser's push service (for example Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft)Notifications in a web browser or iPhone Home Screen app. The message is encrypted so the push service cannot read it
Google Maps or Apple MapsWhen you add a place from a maps link, our server opens that link to read the place's name. Nothing that identifies you is sent
NamecheapForwards email sent to hello@spaceble.co.uk

On Android, a notification's text (your partner's name and the feeling, or the thought or reply itself) passes through Google's notification service to reach your phone.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK's adequacy regulations or by the provider's standard contractual clauses.

We never sell your data or share it for advertising. We would only disclose it if the law required us to.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You have the right to:

To use any of these, email hello@spaceble.co.uk from the address you sign in with. We will reply within one month.

Because your shared space belongs to both of you, a request about it may involve information about your partner. We will not give one partner's private details to the other beyond what the app already shows you both.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Your shared space is isolated from every other couple's at the database level. Calendar access tokens are stored encrypted. Photos are stored privately and are only reachable by you and your partner.

Children

Just Us is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children and we do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a child is using Just Us, please email us and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used in a significant way, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
